As a child Cecilia would retreat to her bedroom to make toy clothes or draw, homework assignments always had drawings, textures or fabric attached in some form.
She recalls the things that brought her the most joy ... creativity and curiosity… the what if’s of exploring and seeing what happens.
Fast forward to 2017 Cecilia’s creativity was again unleashed on designing & building her home and gardens. She engaged with some talented contractors and keen labours who shared her passion and creativity in building her home and surrounding gardens.
With the building project completed it was time to put the icing on the cake, some art was required…. and since her curiosity doesn’t stop, she enrolled in a drawing workshop under the Moore method of drawing. This led onto a local pottery group and pottery workshops, which then lead onto a local painting workshops, and trying her hand at a variety of mediums.
Art awakens her senses with the love of working with colour. There a joy in being messy, tactile, a freedom of expression.
Mixed media, mosaics, sculpting, clay, concrete, stone, scratching into paint, dripping bright juicy colours, thick moody sweeping gestures, yummy layers, texture, papers, acrylic paints, inks & playing with a multitude of techniques. This has brought her many hours of joy.
In her words “There's a variety of outcomes some are delicious, some not so, all learning curves.
Art teaches you a lot about yourself, it is an evolving path, it gives me courage to try things, share pieces of myself with strangers, explore possibilities within techniques and materials within these lessons comes the freedom of no right or wrong.
Art brings me joy; it is an expression of self.
Who knows what direction it will take you and seriously for me this is where the magic is”.
