Janel Colle’s artistic journey began in South Africa, where she first discovered her creative talent during her formative years. Her passion for art led her to pursue a formal education in fine arts at the University of Pretoria, where she refined her skills and deepened her artistic expression. After two years of study, she shifted her focus to fashion design, completing a diploma that introduced her to a new world of colours, textures, and fabrics—elements that would later influence her painting style.
Over time, Janel’s artistic style evolved from her African roots to a more global perspective, reflecting her personal growth and expanding interests. This connection to nature led her to experiment with abstract still-life landscapes, allowing her to capture the beauty and energy of her surroundings.
Janel actively participates in exhibitions to share her art with the world. Her "Blind Date" Exhibition showcased her love for Kauri trees, emphasizing her deep connection to nature. In her, "No Limits," exhibition, she continues to explore natural elements, particularly trees, while incorporating the sun, moon, and urban landscapes, creating a striking contrast between organic and man-made environments.
Her work is characterized by using mixed media, combining acrylic paint with oil pastels to produce vibrant, energetic compositions. As an active member of the Mangawhai Art Gallery, she showcases her work throughout the year, engaging with the local art community and sharing her creative vision. Janel’s journey is a testament to the transformative power of art, allowing her to explo
