Jenner Zimmermann

Jenner was born in 1950 in Munich / Germany. He comes from an artistic family background. His father was a theatre director and his brother is an established sculpture artist. Jenner turned to photography at the age of sixteen and started as professional photographer in 1971. Over the course of his career he worked as a studio, magazine and corporate photographer in Germany, India and New Zealand. He obtained a BVA (Bachelor of Visual Arts) and specialised in Photographic Essay. From 1989 to 1993 he was HoD of Photography at the Whitecliffe College of Art&Design in Auckland. He published seven books (one about New Zealand) in the dual role of author and photographer. In addition he contributed to several other books and publications.. Apart from his printed work he created multimedia exhibitions and documentary films. His work has been exhibited in New Zealand (e.g. the New Zealand Centre of Photography, Wellington) and in many other countries, often by invitation of the Goethe-Institut (the worldwide cultural and language institution of the German government).
