Hi, I tell people I’m an artist by accident.
After a spinal injury at 20 years old, I built a career in sports and had the honour of representing New Zealand in wheelchair rugby at the 2004 Paralympics—where we were fortunate enough to win gold.
After that chapter, I began painting ceramics and later transitioned to acrylics. I’ve always quite liked Van Gogh and Matisse and have sold a few pieces over the years, including reproductions of famous works like *Café Terrace at Night* and *Starry Night*.
I love painting because I can complete a piece from start to finish independently, which is important to me as I have limited use of my arms and hands.
My art has improved a lot over the years, and I enjoy trying new things, constantly learning, and growing as an artist.
You can even find some of my work displayed at Blah’s Café in Dargaville.
